Residential Mental Health Care in the Heart of North County

California Healing Centers provides residential mental health treatment for adults from across San Diego County. Our six-bed home sits on a private hilltop in Rancho Santa Fe, centrally located in North County and within easy reach of the coast, inland communities, and central San Diego.

We offer one program: residential care for adults who need more support than outpatient therapy can give. Clients come to us for anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and other mental health conditions, and they receive treatment from a full clinical team in a quiet, private setting close to home.

Call (858) 868-7707 to speak with admissions. We’re available from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

What Residential Mental Health Treatment at CHC Looks Like

Our residential mental health treatment program is built for adults who are safe in a home-like clinical setting but aren’t stable enough for outpatient care. It’s a good fit for people working through medication changes, deep trauma, recent stabilization after psychosis, or depression and anxiety that make work or school difficult.

Each treatment plan draws on three types of care:

  • Evidence-based therapies: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), internal family systems, and individual and group therapy
  • Holistic therapies: yoga, massage, acupuncture, breathwork, meditation, and equine therapy
  • Innovative therapies: brainspotting, neurofeedback and brain mapping, pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing, and red light therapy

With only six beds, the home stays quiet, and psychiatric providers and nursing staff oversee care throughout each stay. Stays typically run 30 to 60 days, based on clinical progress, your goals, and insurance coverage. California Healing Centers is accredited by The Joint Commission, licensed by the California Department of Social Services, and certified by the California Department of Health Care Services.

Insurance and Admissions

Does Insurance Cover Residential Mental Health Treatment?

Many private insurance plans cover part of residential mental health treatment when it’s clinically necessary. California Healing Centers works with many private insurance providers and also accepts private pay. Coverage depends on your plan, not the city you live in. You can verify your insurance coverage online, and you’ll typically hear back within 24 hours.

How Admissions Works

  1. Confidential phone call: Talk with an admissions specialist about what’s going on. Nobody makes a decision on the first call.
  2. Clinical assessment: A licensed clinician reviews your history, symptoms, and medications to confirm residential care is the right fit.
  3. Insurance verification: We review your benefits and follow up within 24 hours.
  4. Arrival planning: We set your arrival date and walk you through logistics, including transportation if you need it.
